The No Time to Die Commercial and Top 007 Scenes
With 2020 obliterating normality, the global pandemic has changed life in a plethora of ways. People have to trade personal shopping for online shopping, a fancy gym for their home gym, the casino table for a mobile casino table, and the silver screen for a tablet screen. In fact, even legendary super spies have been forced to change their plans with James Bond not returning to movie screens until April 2021 at the earliest.
007 Delayed Until April 2021
Fans of 007 had expected to see the 25th film in the series in April 2020, though the early impact of the pandemic forced producers to delay the release of No Time to Die until November 2020. However, the November release also proved impractical, what with movie theaters closing around the world, and the producers now intend to have
the No Time to Die premiere on April 2nd, 2021.
The full trailer for No Time to Die was released in December 2019 and has since generated more than 17.5 million views on the James Bond 077 YouTube channel. Director Cary Joji Fukunaga provided several memorable moments to tease viewers, including the sight of a retired Bond by a beautiful lake house, a new love interest, a competing female agent who looks tough as nails, the return of a past foe, and the conception of a new one, as played by Rami Malek.
The trailer also reveals the return of friendly faces who have appeared in the Daniel Craig movies. One of the first is Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter, a CIA officer who debuted alongside Craig in Casino Royale. From the trailer, viewers also learn that Ralph Fiennes is back as M, Naomie Harris will be involved as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw is on hand with the gadgets as Q, and Léa Seydoux returns as Madeleine Swann, who appeared for the first time in Spectre.
With fans now forced to endure another delay, they have little option other than to re-watch the entire James Bond series. Moreover, the Halloween passing of Sean Connery, who played Bond six times in the official series, provides further impetus for a 007 refresher course. Over the years, there have been many incredible scenes to look back on.
007 Tries His Hand at Casino Games
Although tasked with saving the world from international super villains, Bond often finds time to hone his skills at casino games. This includes his favorite baccarat, though we can’t imagine him sitting at the slots. Despite knowing some of the world’s best venues, 007 could use a helping hand to find the best casino sites. For sheer quality, the best casino scene in James Bond history would have to be, fittingly, Casino Royale. In typical fashion, there’s much more at play besides a hand of cards and soon enough Bond’s life is at stake before he can resolve the hand and win the poker tournament.
The Satellite Scene from Goldeneye
Casino Royale was Daniel Craig’s first outing in the series, having replaced the outgoing Pierce Brosnan, who starred in three movies. Arguably, Brosnan’s most successful appearance came in 1995 with the release of Goldeneye, which was also directed by Martin Campbell. In Goldeneye, Bond faces off against a rogue MI6 agent long thought dead.
The success of Goldeneye lay in the fierce rivalry between Bond and Alex Trevelyan, as played by the tenacious Sean Bean. It’s not until later in the film that the British secret agent realizes that his friend Alec is alive and presents a grave threat to the world. The scene where the two foes battle along the platforms and runways of an enormous satellite is a tense affair. Few knew what to expect, with
major movie commercials not yet shared online to any great extent.
The Submarine Car from The Spy Who Loved Me
In his vendetta against international crime, Bond has often depended on Q for gadgets that can aid his missions. As the quartermaster of MI6, Q has delivered all manner of gadgets and weaponry over the years and is a beloved character among fans. Crucially, the equipment must be capable of being hidden in plain sight. So, a wristwatch can contain a laser beam, a belt can conceal a grappling hook, and a pen can also serve as a grenade.
One of the most bemusing creations appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me. In this 1977 outing, Roger Moore receives a white Lotus sportscar from Q. In addition to rood performance, the car can also be used as a submarine. This occurs in a scene where Bond drives himself and an attractive companion
from the end of a jetty. “Can you swim?” Bond asks before plunging into the sea, at which point the transformation into a submarine begins.
A Shocking Fight in Goldfinger
The
No Time to Tie commercial shows that James Bond is still a tough guy despite returning to action after five years of retirement. Sean Connery was famed for being a boxer in his younger years before ascending to Hollywood superstardom. As such, he is widely viewed as the toughest Bond.
Well, the no-nonsense Scot lived up to his reputation in 1964’s Goldfinger. After receiving travel instructions from a covert contact, Bond returns to his room for a romantic liaison. And this prompts an attempt on his life from a would-be assassin who tries to catch the veteran agent unawares. After gaining the upper hand, Bond tosses an electric fan in the bathtub where the man has fallen before coldly saying, “Shocking”.-
